Turkey Meatballs
This recipe was sent to us by Cass Bailey, one of our Blogger Mums. Her challenge was to oook a family meal using turkey for under £10. Here’s what cooked:
The diary of a Frugal Family
Essential Ingredient:
Turkey Mince
For the meatballs:

500g turkey mince.

1/2 finely chopped onion.

1 1/2 apples grated.

Mixed herbs

For the tomato sauce:


1/2 onion

2 tsp sugar

1 clove of garlic

2 tsp chopped basil

Chilli (optional)

To serve:
Pasta and a sprinkling of Parmesan.
Give your pasta sauces an extra kick or tuck into a Swedish extravaganza .
  1. For the meatballs:
  2. Lightly saute the onion and then add to a mixing bowl with the apple, mince and herbs.
  3. Mix it all together and then form into small meatball sized meatballs.
  4. Shallow fry or oven bake them. You can even just brown them and simmer them in the tomato sauce for ten minutes.
  5. For the Tomato Sauce:
  6. Saute the onion and the crushed garlic.
  7. Add the passata, sugar, basil and chilli (if you’re using it) to the pan and simmer for ten minutes.
